Richland-Chambers Lake, the 3rd largest in the State of Texas, is located 10 miles southeast of Corsicana along US Highway 287. Economic Background:nCorsicana is the location where oil was first discovered west of the Mississippi River thus establishing the city as an industrial and commercial center.


Therefore, Corsicana became the first Texas oil boom town, and one of Texas' wealthiest cities. The area has the longest continuous oil flow in Texas, with a total production in excess of 200 million barrels since 1895. Minerals produced in the area include oil, gas, sand, and gravel. Corsicana is now defined by its impressive portfolio of diverse industries including information technology, advanced manufacturing, chemical engineering, distribution, logistics & transportation, railroads, oil and natural gas, and agriculture and cattle.
